Mosquito Control Program
Our Grand Rapids Mosquito Control Application not only kills your mosquitos, but also prevents your neighbors mosquitos from coming into your lawn. A licensed technician will first go around your property and access where the mosquitos are hanging out. He will dump out any standing water, and develop a plan of where to spray the mosquitos. Once he is done with this, he will put on his protective gear and start spraying the mosquito barrier. This is not harmful to the environment at all, although it could possibly kill other bugs that are not mosquitos. This, however, is not very likely. The technician will target bushes
How to do Mosquito Control Yourself
We recommend that you let a pro handle mosquito control for you when it comes to applying insecticides, however there are many things you can do to keep the mosquito population down yourself!
Remove all standing Water
Mosquitos breed in standing water. To stop this from happening, empty dog dishes, bird baths, gutters, pool covers, and any other standing water, regularly.
Make sure your lawn drains properly
Many people have issues with draining water on their property. This could be just because of a broken sprinkler head or just because your property is unlevel and has never drained good. Little puddles of water in your grass from drainage issues is enough water for a mosquito larvae to hatch.
Cut Grass shorter and Trim bushes regularly
Cut your grass on a weekly basis to prevent mosquitos from resting in it. Mosquitos love tall grass. This does not mean you should cut your grass as short as possible. This will hurt the grass and not fix your mosquito problem. You should trim your bushes at least monthly. Mosquitos love to hang out in bushes as they love the shade bushes provide. When you trim the bushes make sure you pick up all the trimmings. Water can land on these leaves and give the mosquito enough water to lay its eggs in.
Make sure your check your rain gutters regularly. Gutters clog very easily from leaves, sticks, and other debris. When gutters get clogged they cause water to be left standing, making it the optimal breeding ground for mosquitos.
